Case presentation:

This 37 year old man had intense right hip and thigh pain that had developed over a 3 to 4 month period. The pain was no worse at night and not relieved by aspirin.  He was otherwise healthy, and afebrile. Exam showed exqusite tenderness over the proximal femoral diaphysis and there was the impression of a small deep seated mass.  CBC was 6.5.  On exam he had tenderness over the anterior lateral tibia as well.  Plain radiograph, bonescan, T1and T2 MRI images are shown at right.  Click on them to see a larger image.
